There are two apartments in London I would love.

One is £1.5million pounds, 2 bedroom flat.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

the other is £4.55 million, 3 bedroom penthouse.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

They are in London so that explains a little on the cost.

The rest is in part due to the history and EXCELLENT transport links.

This is your ‘lobby’.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Thes e are excellent because the apartments are located in St. Pancras train station. Yep, you want transport. You have an international train station down stairs

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

and the London Underground below that.

Kinja'd!!!

If St.Pancras doesn’t have trains that go to where you want to go, you have Kings Cross, across the road, on the other side you have Euston Train Station.

Like reading? there is the British Library across the road between St. Pancras and Euston.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

So not only can you get a train to any part of the U.K. but you can get an international train to anywhere in Europe either w ithout having to leave the building to get the train or merely having to cross a street or two.

Having friends to stay but not don’t have the room, there is a 5 star hotel in the building and several restaurants.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This is your home, this is what you see when you get back to your abode.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Originally the Midland Grand Hotel she was opened in 1873, closed in 1935 she became a British Rail office building and while being used, went unloved until the 1980s where it was closed again after failing a fire inspection.

She was bought and planning permission given in 2004 and the hotel opened in 2011.

Such a beautiful piece of history that though not nearly lost, was hidden from public and used as office space, can you imagine this as office space? Surely would of been the most beautiful office space in the world.

Don’t bother, it’s really not that good.

Then again, it might be a little exotic there.

You know, I’d be down for living in #2 if I could somehow afford it. But it’s one of a very few ways you’d ever get me to live in London.

Personally, I’d rather live in the part of the country you live in, provided I could somehow afford it.

If I fell into 7 figures (I mean, uh, “worked” hard to earn) to dump into real estate, that might not be how I’d spend it, but on the other hand, as London will remain a financial/money laundering hub, there will always be demand, so maybe a good place to park funds and enjoy the culture. I suspect these d on’t have great garage space.

I’d be tempted to buy an Edwina Monsoon style place in Holland Park, just to troll my sister.

I’d go for the second one myself, just the thought of going down stairs, having breakfast cooked for me in the restaurant, then getting a train to anywhere in Europe for a day or two, then coming home.

Ye’, this is what £4million gets you were I live.

There is garage space but to be honest I’d look for a storage space on the outside or near the outside for a several car g arage and either use the train to get there or use a taxi to get there, saves having to drive in the manic atmosphere of London traffic.

Definitely, good idea. Spend 30 minutes on a train or in a car driven by someone else, rather than sit in an hour of gridlock to get to a place with semi-decent driving conditions to begin with.  Less stress, and probably better for the cars too.  I assume that part of London is good for driving only if you are an engine revving guillotine fodder devilspawn of blood money on UAE-area plates.

Ye', but the police are clamping down on that, or were. They've bigger fish to fry with scooter driving mobile phones phone and handbag thieves and the sudden escalation of knife crime.

No doubt it was just slaps on the wrist at most, that demographic has zero accountability no matter their location.

Oops my bad, that brick slipped out of my hand, sorry about your windshield, don’t worry, dad’ll get you a new one.

No, large fines, full inspection of the vehicle. If no insurance or licence plate that could be read in English the car would be impounded and they’d have to go to a police station with documents to prove or correct the error.

You want to illegally park, expect your car not to be there when you get back if you are causing an obstruction.

I don’t know where people outside the U.K. get the idea the police are lenient because they are a prince, rich, etc... I assure you they are not, some may say lenient compared to where they live elsewhere in the world but that’s British policing, an officer would be more inclined to just ‘having a word’ if it wasn’t anything big and your polite. The paperwork they have for any interaction with the public in an official capacity can tie them to a desk for hours, body cameras go a long way to reducing it but it’s still a lot of work.

Commit criminal damage (break a window deliberately, kick a bin and damage it (say off a wall or from it's footing), hit a car without leaving your details no matter how minor (which is attempting to leave the scene of an incident without making reasonable effort to contact the owner or leave details, may also be driving without due care and attention, driving in a reckless manner which may cause an accident, etc...)  you will be arrested, no it’s or buts. The question is, how much of a fine and how many points gets put on your licence or whether you get a driving ban or ordered to do community service.

I think the way of the world is that lenient treatment comes with money. It’d be interesting to see an independent audit conducted of the punishments given to run-ins with the guillotine fodder allowed to flit around London (and NYC, and LA, and Vancouver, etc).

Money doesn’t go that far away to getting stuff like this removed.

Also there is money on both sides, the people arsing around in cars may have a lot of money, but also so do the residents living in the places they are doing the arsing around.

In some of these areas a below ground flat can be £2million easily.

Better than London, though.

But you do have a point. I used to live above a trolley station and it was so incredibly convenient. I could leave my car home, ride to the airport, and catch a flight or train out of town. From my place to being on  a plane was as short as an hour and a half, shorter to on a train...
